Strategies

The project is developed in eight weeks of collaboration, suggesting activities divided into 4 sessions, in which students from schools of different parts of the world will share ideas, knowledge, materials and proposals to help mitigate deforestation in their regions.

During the development of the project, the students will generate partial products that will allow them to demonstrate the acquired learning. These will be carried out with the use of technological web tools.

At the end of the activities, the students will develop a dissemination campaign that contains the studied topics and the acquired learning, which they will implement in their schools.

Afterwards, the teams will exchange the evidences of the campaign and work carried out during the development of the project, so that together they produce a final product, consisting of making a newsletter (Newsletter).

Inscription

Teachers register their groups, from March 17 to April 4, 2020. It is important to have Internet service, since it is necessary to use ICT and communication and collaboration tools such as chat, email, discussion forums, social networks, videoconference and web services for the accomplishment of tasks in collaboration between the teams.

Evaluation

The participating students will answer to the initial evaluation online, to make a conceptual diagnosis respect to each of the topics that will be addressed in the project. The results will be compared with the final evaluation for the assessment of the project and determine, with it, future improvement changes.

Communication Tools

Communication between students will be through the discussion forums and social networks such as Facebook, where they will share knowledge and ideas as a result of their research work.

In each session of the project, a discussion forum will be opened, where they will share analysis, reflections and knowledge within a respectful and collaborative learning scheme.

To participate in the forum, is important to watch the next Guide for the use of Discussion Forums.

With the purpose of socialize the learning, express opinions related to the subject, share information of interest -videos, pages links, images and audios- and linking the partial and final products of the project, the project's Facebook will be used. For this, the responsible teachers of the group will generate a Facebook account of the school and the project.

To achieve an enriching debate in both communication tools, the following participation criteria are formulated:

    • It is necessary that messages are focused on the issue in question, deforestation.
    • It is important to read the different contributions, both the participants and the moderator, and make comments in order to encourage discussion of the subject.
    • Provide in each message new elements in favor or against the ideas exposed or propose new ones.

Likewise, students will use collaboration tools such as Google Docs, Google Drawing or free digital apps and softwares for the development of materials as a result of their learning, which will allow them to create and share them on the network.

Teams Formation

The formation of the international work teams will be headed by Teacher María de los Ángeles Serrano Islas, Coordinator of the project in ILCE, who will form the teams according to the age and language of the students, which will depend in the number of registered groups from other countries. Reason why, the groups that are not assigned teams, will work internally; and carry out the activities proposed in the National Participation.

Once the teams are made, the responsible teachers will be provided with the data of the schools with which they will collaborate remotely, through the email address with which they were registered; therefore, it must be valid.

They will be able to keep in touch with the coordinator, through the following email: nuestra_tierra@ilce.edu.mx.

National Participation

The activities will be carried out in teams of a maximum of 5 members, according to the indications that are presented in each of the sessions that make up the project. They will collaboratively share their reflections, knowledge, works, products and proposals that contribute jointly to propose actions in favor of the environment and, consequently, mitigate deforestation.

International Participation

Once the international work teams are made, the Coordinator will hold a Teacher Meeting by videoconference, with the objective of inform the way of work and collaboration on the scheduled activities, this will take place from from April 20 to 25 (see the International Participation calendar).

After having received the information from the Coordinator, the teachers in charge of the groups and heads of media classrooms, from the different regions, will establish communication to program the activities among the distant students, which will lead to the interaction between them and, therefore, achieve the integration and socialization of the acquired learning.

Once the agreements between teachers of the teams are established, they project activities will begin. It should be noted that at the end of each of the sessions, a videoconference will be held between the international work teams and the Project Coordinator, where the students will be the main protagonists. This will be through videoconferencing. To do this, a schedule will be established in Google Drive with the dates programmed according to the activities calendar and the password will be sent by email. According to this, two videoconferences are scheduled to present elaborated products and acquired learnings in each of the sessions.

Both modalities

It is important to point out that the partial and final products must be carried out collaboratively between the teams, either in the National or International Participation, as regards the latter, it is necessary to share them in the cloud or to use collaboration tools on the Internet.
